Elizabeth Smith Tucker

Author Biography

Liz Tucker describes herself as a deeply rooted “transplant” to the Lowcountry, one who moved from Louisville, Kentucky, in her youth. After she and her husband raised four children at Limerick Plantation in the wilds of Hell Hole Swamp, Liz ran a tour company, Creative Expeditions, which specialized in conducting heritage tours for museum groups, including the Smithsonian and the National Trust. It was at the urging of her tour participants that she committed her stories to paper. A grandmother of four, she currently has possums on her patio, which overlooks the tidal creeks and marshes near Edisto Island.

Pigs on the Patio

Pigs on the Patio

Published 2007
$22.00 (Hardcover)

Liz Tucker invites you through this delightful memoir to join her and her young, eccentric family at Limerick Plantation near Charleston, South Carolina. But this was no gracious, antebellum plantation of white columns, mint juleps and Southern belles. Besides pigs on the patio, there were coons in the cupboards, cows in the cornfield and calves in the doghouse, and Liz’s husband, “The Saint,” believed that duck hunting “was why we were put on this earth!” With 16 photographs.
